GETDB (Gal4
Enhancer Trap Insertion Database)
Version 3.0 (August 1, 2003)
GETDB is an integrated database compiling insertion
site, expression pattern and mutant phenotype of a large collection
(6966) of Gal4 enhancer trap lines generated and analyzed by NP
Consortium. Insertions can be searched by two ways.
Strain
Search offers you to search insertions according to map position,
expression pattern, affected gene or strain number.
Chromosome
Map View allows you to jump onto a particular chromosomal arm, chromosomal
bands or genes and visually inspect the relationship between insertions
and genes. Insertions and genes are hyper linked to our strain data
and Flybase for easy browsing. Your suggestion for improvement and correction
is essential to make this resource useful for research community. Please
send your comment to Shigeo
Hayashi.
- Mapping
(August
1, 2003)
Genomic DNA flanking the 5'end of the Gal4 enhancer
trap element was amplified by inverse PCR, sequenced and was used for
blast search against Drosophila genomic sequence determined by BDGP/Cerela
(Release 3.1). Total of 6966 insertions were analyzed in this way, of
which 6546 gave sequences long enough for Blast search, and 4430 insertions
were mapped onto specific euchromatic locations. Flanking genomic sequences
of 1116 insertions were not mapped, mostly because they overlapped with
repetitive sequences. 3' flanking sequences of those strains were determined.
Insertions were grouped according to their location into 2157 clusters,
each containing one to thirty four insertions.
- Stock
One insertion per each cluster were selected and retained as a minimal
stock. Most of them are deposited to
Drosophila Genetic Resource Center in Kyoto Institute of Technology.
Those and most of other stocks are maintained in Genetic Strains Research
Center of National Institute of Genetics.
Stock request should be sent through the 'request' link in the 'search
result page'.
